‘Double steal and three-hit game’: what did Lee emphasise?…”I’m just trying to stay on track”

LG Twins right fielder Lee Jae-won made his presence felt with a three-hit performance and two stolen bases.

LG extended its winning streak to five games with a 17-8 victory in the 15th game of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League against the Kiwoom Heroes at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul on Wednesday. Their season record now stands at 61 wins, 2 ties and 35 losses.메이저사이트

Lee Jae-won, batting eighth and starting in left field, went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs, two doubles and two runs scored. It was Lee’s second three-hit game of the season, the first coming on 16 May against the KT Wiz in Jamsil, and the first time he has stolen two bases in a game since his debut.

His most notable play was a double steal that took the wind out of the opposition’s sails. In the bottom of the second inning with his team leading 3-2, Lee Jae-won, who was on third base with runners on first and third, completed a double steal with Hong Chang-ki at first base. Kiwoom catcher Kim Dong-heon threw the ball to second base, and Lee Jae-won, who saw that Kim hadn’t cut off the throw in the middle, scored on the play.

“It felt good to help the team win,” said Lee Jae-won after the game, “Coach Park Yong-geun told me to be ready at the time, so I stayed in that position, and the moment (Kim) leaned down, I executed it right away, so I think it worked out well.”

Lee Jae-won, who contributed to the team’s victory with three hits, said, “I think it was just like that. I don’t think I hit well, but I think it’s right to keep it going. I’ve been trying to maintain a good feeling lately, so when my batting goes up, it goes up, and when it goes down, it goes down. I’m trying to go with the flow,” he said, adding, “I think I’m more concerned with timing than trying to hit lightly.”

Lee Jae-won, who hasn’t had a hit in over two months, ending on 24 May against the Incheon SSG Landers, said, “I honestly don’t want a home run. “Last week against Kiwoom, I thought, ‘It’s okay,’ but it didn’t go over, so I thought, ‘Maybe I’m not good,’ so I practised more to make it feel better,” he said.

This season, Lee missed the opening day of the regular season with a sore left side, and then suffered another thigh injury in late May. Even after returning to full fitness, opportunities were hard to come by.

“Looking back at the moment of my injury, it wasn’t easy. I was thinking a lot and shaking a lot,” she said, adding, “I have to prepare a lot because the best player has to play for the team to win. If I continue to prepare and do well, opportunities will come and I will be able to seize them,” she said.
