A new partner for Son Heung-min (31-Tottenham) has been discussed. Nigerian striker Gift Orban (21-KAA Gent) is one of the candidates.
“안전놀이터 Manager Enzi Postecoglou could sign a £26 million ($44.2 million) player to partner Heung-min Son,” English Football Fancast reported on Saturday (Aug. 16), citing Football Insider. One of those players is Orban.
Orban is a Belgian striker born in 2002. Despite his relatively small size (1.78 meters), the striker is known for his explosive speed. He’s also very decisive in front of goal. He scored 20 goals in 22 games last season, including nine goals and two assists in 10 Belgian Jupiler League games, six goals in six UEFA Europa Conference League playoff games, and five goals in six UECL matches.
Obviously, it’s tough to replace Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), who left Tottenham ahead of the 2023-24 season. However, the consensus is that Orban could be a good addition for Spurs in the long run. He’s also a good target for Spurs, given the fact that they can’t realistically bring in top players.

“While there may still be doubts about handing Kane’s place to a younger star, Orban could be a long-term successor,” the publication said. “Orban could thrive in north London with Son Heung-min’s creativity behind him,” they wrote.
Realistically, it’s hard to see Orban replacing Kane right away and forming a partnership with Son like that. Son and Kane were one of the best attacking duos in the world. In fact, they partnered together for eight years and hold the English Premier League (EPL) record for most combined goals (47). However, the outlet believes that Orban has the potential to be Tottenham’s key attacker in the long run.

With just over two weeks left in the summer transfer window, there’s plenty of money to go around. Tottenham reportedly made a transfer profit of around £100 million ($170 million) on the sale of Kane. Orban’s transfer fee is expected to be £26 million, and his market value is estimated at €20 million ($29.2 billion), according to real football transfer site TransferMarkt.
