Professional football K League 1 club FC Seoul has accepted the resignation of head coach Ahn Ik-soo and switched to an acting system.
The club announced on the 22nd, “As Coach Ahn resigned, expressing his firm determination that big changes are necessary for the team to leap to the top, we decided to accept it after careful consideration and appointed Head Coach Kim Jin-gyu as acting head coach.”
Ahn announced his intention to step down abruptly at an official press conference after the 27th round home game against Daegu FC on the 19th, saying, 메이저놀이터“This is the end of my role.” Ahn’s announcement came without notice to the club. He has led Seoul since September 2021.
Seoul are currently fourth in the K League One table this season, but have fallen into a recent slump. They are winless in their last five matches, including a 2-2 draw in Daegu, which was Ahn’s last game in charge.
The club added: “We are deeply grateful to Coach Ahn for overcoming difficult circumstances and inspiring the spirit of the team in the capital of South Korea, Seoul, and will give him our full support in his future endeavours as a footballer.” Head coach Kim Jin-gyu has been with Seoul since 2020 after coaching the club’s U-18 team Osango since 2018. Seoul will host league leaders Ulsan Hyundai in round 28 on 27 November.
