“We put a doubleheader in the original schedule” Complaints about the remaining games, ‘Busan Jamsil DH, 7-game series, including DH’ Samsung is also upset “We have a plan”

The Korean Baseball Organization (KBO)안전놀이터 has been inundated with complaints about the remaining schedule announced a day ago.

On the 29th, Kiwoom manager Hong Won-ki criticized the decision, and on the 30th, Samsung manager Park Jin-man pointed out a similar problem.

Park said, “The doubleheader was not created because of the newly canceled game, but because the doubleheader was originally scheduled on the regular schedule. I can understand having a doubleheader for a canceled game, but I don’t understand the doubleheader in the existing schedule. We’re trying to organize a year-long plan, and it doesn’t make sense to put a doubleheader on top of that.” He repeatedly pointed out the absurdity.

Eight teams, including Samsung, will have to play a doubleheader on Saturday, November 9. The only exceptions are SSG and KT.

The day after the doubleheader is a 2 p.m. game on Sunday. The exhausted team will have to take the field the next morning. Samsung will play a three-game series against the Lotte Giants in Busan on Sept. 5-7, then immediately travel to Jamsil Stadium for four games, including a doubleheader against Doosan. The doubleheader will be followed by a 2 p.m. game on Sunday.

Kiwoom, which has played the most games at the Gocheok Sky Dome, the only dome stadium, with 119, has more to complain about.

After a night game against the Changwon NC Dinos on Sept. 5-7, the team will travel to Gocheok for a four-game series, including a doubleheader against Hanwha. After playing a game on the 8th, they will play a doubleheader all day on the 9th, and then play a day game on the 10th at 2pm.

The gist of Kiwoom’s complaint is that the team that has played the most games shouldn’t have to rush through such a tight schedule.

Kiwoom coach Hong Won-ki said, “The 9th is a regular season game that was already organized, but it was organized as a doubleheader. I don’t understand why it’s a doubleheader when there’s a reserve day afterward. The previous game was against Changwon, and Saturday is a doubleheader, and we have to play two games, but I don’t think it’s too unreasonable,” he said. He continued, “There is no reason for a doubleheader at the Gocheok Dome. There is also a reserve day on Tuesday, and to avoid that and put a doubleheader on Saturday for a regular season game is a hard decision to understand.”

The KBO, which has to coordinate the interests of 10 clubs, is also in a difficult position.

“We wanted to distribute the doubleheaders more or less evenly,” said a KBO spokesperson, “but we also had to consider the schedule of the other team (Hanwha). If we add an extra day to the schedule, Hanwha will have to travel back to Gocheok to play just one game.”
