The Washington Wizards lost their 2023-2024 NBA regular season game against the Brooklyn Nets 94-102 on Dec. 13 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Jordan Poole didn’t have much to work with on the night, tallying 12 points and grabbing five rebounds in his 32 minutes of action. His court margin was -22, the second-worst on the team behind Kyle Kuzma (-29).토토사이트
Poole, who debuted for Golden State in the 2019-2020 season, is a scoring guard who has been a key sixth man for the team since the 2021-2022 season. Last season, he averaged 20.4 points per game, his first career 20-point average.
Heading into the new season, Poole had a change of scenery. He left Golden State via trade and found a new home in Washington. With the Wizards pushing the rebuilding button, Poole was expected to receive more offensive opportunities and play a primary option role.
Before the season started, there was a lot of excitement about Poole’s development, with NBA legend Kevin Garnett likening the move to James Harden’s departure from Oklahoma City to Houston on a podcast, predicting that Poole would explode and become a top-five scorer in the league.
But Poole’s presence in Washington has been subdued. He’s averaging 16.4 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists through nine games, but he’s shooting just 41.7% and 30.0% from the field and 3-point range, respectively, which is worse than last season in both volume and shooting efficiency.
Worst of all is the court margin. Poole’s court margin this season is -13.2, meaning that for every minute he’s on the court, the Wizards are outscored by an average of 13 points per game.
Aside from the win over Memphis on October 29, Poole’s court margin has been negative.
Fellow starters Tyrese Jones (-15.2) and Kuzma (-12.8) are right there with Poole in terms of poor court margin, and coincidentally, they are the top three players in the league with the worst court margin among players currently averaging at least 20 minutes.
With Poole and the rest of the starters struggling so badly, the Wizards are currently 2-7 and 14th in the East, the worst place they’ve been since the start of the season. If Poole doesn’t bounce back, it’s going to be a very cold winter in Washington.
