Busan BNK Thumb has secured at least third place after beating the Philippines.
BNK defeated the Philippines 65-59 behind a 19-point, 4-rebound performance from Lee So-hee in the women’s fourth game of the 42nd William Jones Cup Basketball Tournament at Heping Basketball Gymnasium in Taipei, Taiwan on 8 August. 온라인바카라 BNK, which erased the sting of a loss to Japan’s Champion Cosmetics the day before, improved to 3-1 and secured at least third place.
BNK dominated from the start. Kim Han-byul (6 points) effectively defended the Philippines’ 6-foot-9 centre Jack Daniel Ernie Mam (4 points, 10 rebounds), and the BNK team had an easy time of it. They closed the first quarter on an 18-8 run and went into halftime with a commanding 40-24 lead, led by back-to-back three-pointers from Lee So-hee and Kim Ji-eun (9 points, 2 rebounds), which came just before the end of the second quarter for a 34-22 advantage.
The second half was no different. BNK widened the gap to 51-31 in the third quarter behind the firepower of Lee So-hee, who hit three three-pointers in the quarter alone. At the end of the third quarter, with the game tilted in their favour, they brought in their backups early to check their strength. At the start of the fourth quarter, they maintained their lead with the help of Kim Min-ah (10 points, 4 rebounds) and comfortably closed out the game.
“We came out nervous because we knew that the Philippines is a team with a tall 10 (Ernie Mam), who enjoys shooting from the outside and has good individual skills,” Park said, “but we also felt that we were tired from the continuous game schedule. Fortunately, the players stayed focused and we were able to play well.” Lee So-hee, who scored 19 points on the day, said, “We had ups and downs in Korea, but today we thought we would start with our defence and do the basics.”
BNK will play the final game of the tournament against the Chinese Taipei National Team A on the 9th.
